Giacomo Sacca
Giacomo Sacca is currently the Chief of Police for the City of Elizabeth. He is the highest-ranking officer in the police department, responsible for all police operations. Chief Sacca has twenty-eight years of experience as a police officer and agency supervisor. Chief Sacca served as a supervisor in the uniformed services and investigative bureaus of the police department. Before earning his role as the agency administrator, Chief Sacca served as the Commanding Officer of the Emergency Service Unit, Patrol Division, Narcotics Unit, and Training Division. Chief Sacca’s current responsibilities include the management of daily operations, strategic planning for the agency, and ensuring the resource needs of the 365 sworn members of the department.
Chief Sacca is an alumnus of the United States Naval Postgraduate School with a Master of Arts in Security Studies, Homeland Security and Defense. Chief Sacca completed his undergraduate studies at Thomas Edison State University, achieving a Bachelor of Science in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. He also has a certificate in Public Safety Liability Mitigation, Risk Management from Richard Stockton University. In 2021, Chief Sacca completed the Certified Public Manager Program at Rutgers University.
Chief Sacca is the former President of the Union County Police Chief’s Association and the current Fourth Vice President of the New Jersey State Chiefs of Police Association. Chief Sacca serves as the Superintendent of the John H. Stamler Police Academy and the Chairman of the Union County Law Enforcement Officer Memorial project. Chief Sacca is a member of the Board of Trustees for the 313 Ancestor’s Speak Project. Chief Sacca also serves as a Commissioner for the New Jersey State Chiefs of Police Accreditation Commission.
