Ray Guidetti

Ray Guidetti retired as the Deputy Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police in 2018 at the rank of Lt. Colonel after twenty-five years of service. He currently consults with law enforcement and public safety organizations nationally to develop programs and initiatives designed to combat violent crime and terrorism. Additionally, he is a cohost on the RF Factor podcast, www.rffactor.com.

At the NJSP he led the Investigations Branch which consisted of in excess of 600 detectives, analysts, technicians, and scientists assigned to a myriad of different units and mission areas with an annual budget of approximately seventy-five million dollars. In that role he commanded three sections which included the Intelligence and Criminal Enterprise Section, the Special Investigations Section, and the Forensic & Technical Service Section, and worked closely with interagency partners representing the many disciplines of public safety and homeland security.

A strong advocate of strategic planning, intelligence, and information-sharing, he has participated on several task forces. While assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Joint Terrorism Task Force following the attacks on September 11, 2001, he was selected by the U.S. Department of Justice to play a critical role in the prosecution of the 9/11 conspirator Zacharias Moussaoui, known as the PENTTBOMB investigation. For his efforts, he was awarded the 2006, U.S. Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Furthering National Security, and the 2006 NJSP Trooper of the Year Award.

Additionally, he is credited with establishing the analytical element of New Jersey’s state fusion center by bringing together an inter-agency team of personnel to conduct threat and risk assessments. Because of his efforts, he was awarded the 2008 Fusion Center State and Local Member of the Year Award by the National Fusion Center Association. Moreover, Ray completed a yearlong fellowship with the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence & Analysis where he worked with partners from the law enforcement, homeland security, and the Intelligence Community.
